Our Love Story

Victoria’s Story
We were set up by mutual friends, who mentioned how perfect we would be together on two separate occasions. However, they would not tell me Sam’s name or any other information. They wanted it to be a complete surprise if Sam decided to reach out. The two friends reached out to Sam, and a few days later, he reached out and asked me on a date. Our first date was with Sam’s cousin. We went to Pie Tap and then to a concert.
I was looking for a new church when I met Sam, so I started going to Trinity Bible Church with him before we started dating, and now, we go there every Sunday together, and it has been such a blessing to us! It was fun to worship with him before we even started dating. He was so intentional about how he pursued me. He was and is everything I prayed for!
Sam shared a read the Bible in a year plan with me that his dad had given him and that is when I knew he would be the best leader as a husband and a father. He was and is intentional about his time with Jesus and always makes sure he spends time in the word. Reading our bibles together is something that we prioritize and love to do together. One of our favorite things to do is go for coffee at our favorite coffee shop, Merit on Saturday mornings and spend time in the word with one another. These slow mornings are the most fulfilling and joyful!
A month after Sam and I started dating we went to Charleston, and I met most of Sam’s family. After meeting his family, I was in awe of how the Lord works and how faithful He is. I knew then that I could see myself being a part of his amazing family. One of my favorite parts about the trip was meeting Sam’s nephew Charlie, whose first birthday we were celebrating. This same weekend Sam ran a half marathon! The weekend was full of celebrating, laughing, and enjoying new company.
Through dating Sam, I have learned to start liking the Texans, running (kind of), and enjoying such small moments. The simplest things have become the moments I cherish the most because we enjoy our time together so much.
Sam mentioned marriage early in our relationship and by eight months, I knew he was preparing to ask my dad to marry me. We ring shopped on a few occasions impulsively and those impulsive ring-looking trips will always be some of my favorite memories.
Sam’s Story
My friends, Hannah and Moriah randomly texted me in a group chat one day saying they had someone they wanted to set me up with. They told me very little about Victoria, except that she was a Godly woman, and she could be my future wife. After they first mentioned her, they didn’t offer her number or anything, because they wanted to make sure I was actually interested (I found this out later). The next day I texted them again to ask for her number, and they told me I had passed their test.
I was super excited to meet Victoria before our first date, and I sent my mom a photo of her. My mom responded, “She’s perfect!” After our first date, I just had some feeling that she was the one. Even early on I could tell that she was everything I was looking for in a wife.
After about a month of dating, she came to Charleston to meet most of my immediate family. I was unsure about asking her to come because I thought she might think I was crazy asking her to meet my family so early on. I was pleasantly surprised when she showed no hesitation. We had the best weekend, and my family loved her. My brother-in-law, Chad, even texted me after and said “Sam, we approve. Get the ring.”
It didn’t take me long to see how special Victoria is. She is one of the most selfless and kind-hearted people I’ve ever met. Most importantly, seeing her relationship with Christ has been truly admirable and encouraging. She is such a joy to be around and I could spend every second with her.
As most people know, I’m a huge football fan, and Victoria has been so kind to spend time watching football with me. Some of my favorite memories have been going to SMU, Texans, and Cowboys games with her and her family.
It has been crazy to see how the Lord has worked in both of our lives and in our relationship. I never expected everything to pan out the way it did, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
